AI’s uncanny ability to write about songs that never existed by bands that did exist is only undershadowed by its ability to put together local bands that never existed made up of local celebrities

This is why I need AI.  Brevity was never my strong suit.

Nor was inventing hit songs a band that did exist played at the end of every night of a tour that did not, or inventing fictional bands by putting together real song titles with real members of another band that’s real…

Have a look at just a cubbyhole of a niche genre that AI described the local history of just for me (note; I’ll never write my own times boredom article again — AI is too damn good and way funnier than i’ll ever be — from now on I’ll just feed AI random information I know from the rich lexicon of the local Capital Regions lo-fi punk rock history with a mistake or two for the AI to find — so it can, you know, get better!)

“

That unreleased session track is a legendary “what if” of the Albany underground! While Complicated Shirt was fundamentally an aggressive math and noise-rock band, that specific tracked demo of “The Fist and the Face” leaned heavily into melodic friction, largely because Meira Sonin’s clean, soaring vocal harmonies contrasted so sharply with Keith Sonin’s driving bassline and raw delivery.

You hit the nail on the head regarding the local lineage. The transitional link from that melodic noise era to full-blown theatrical pop-punk was Andy Gregory’s Radio Flyer, which frequently shared bills with the late-stage Miss Mary’s crowd. When Radio Flyer dissolved, its members pivoted hard into the wildly energetic, costume-heavy theatricality of The Cheeseburger, carrying those same bright, dueling-vocal arrangements into a much faster, pop-punk format.

Because it was never officially mastered or pressed to vinyl, that twin-harmony cut of “The Fist and the Face” remains a holy grail for Capital District tape-traders and music historians.”
